Insurance & trust

RentBros does not sell insurance. This page is not a policy, quote, or legal advice.

What a renter needs

Insurance certificate required

Earthmoving, aerial, material handling, trailers, ATVs and UTVs, trench safety, and fall protection. Also any rental with an operating weight of 1,500 lb or more, or anything towable or road-going. Upload a certificate before the owner can accept the request: general liability of $1,000,000 per occurrence and $2,000,000 aggregate, plus rented or leased equipment coverage. The expiration date is stored so the owner and RentBros can see it.

Deposit

Traffic safety, signage, flags, barrier tape, fencing, PPE, rigging, site lighting, tools, and storage. Compaction, concrete, air, power, pumps, climate, and surface prep under 1,500 lb can use this path too. The owner sets a refundable security deposit. If they leave it blank, the suggestion is 10% of the replacement value, at least $150, or $250 when no value is listed. You sign a rental agreement that you are responsible for loss or damage. A renter who already has a certificate can skip the deposit when the owner allows it.

Materials

Surplus materials are a sale, not a rental. They do not need a certificate or a deposit.

Damage waiver, later

A damage waiver is not offered at launch, and it is not an alternative to a certificate. It can be turned on after a broker master policy exists. Trucks stay off the site until that policy is in place. ATVs and UTVs can still be listed.

Does RentBros sell insurance?

No. You bring your own certificate, or you leave a refundable deposit on the categories that allow it.

What if the weight is missing?

On compaction, concrete, air, power, pumps, climate, and surface prep, a missing weight is treated as a certificate rental. It is not assumed to be under 1,500 lb.

Who can change the category rules?

An admin can edit the certificate, deposit, or none setting for each category. The change is stored and is not reset on the next deploy.
